Bold and the Beautiful on CBS sees fans are left grappling with a number of messy storylines, showcasing the trials and tribulations of characters like Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada), Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle). The writers, led by Brad Bell, are faced with criticism for over-complicating the narrative and rehashing old plotlines. 
B&B sees the plot where Luna Nozawa's stepmother, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), is under surveillance by Chief Baker (Dan Martin), has been particularly frustrating for viewers. The legality and execution of the surveillance have been called into question. Another grating storyline is that of Brooke Logan's denial of Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and Taylor Hayes' (Rebecca Budig) relationship. Despite the history and three kids shared by Ridge and Taylor, Brooke insists their relationship isn't 'real'. 
Bold sees the storyline involving Liam Spencer's cancer diagnosis has also left viewers unsatisfied. The lack of clarity regarding his treatment and the absence of the associated side effects have been a cause for concern. Surprisingly, Liam has not shared the news of his illness with any of his family members. Another poorly received plot is the return of Nick Marone (Jack Wagner) for Brooke and the engagement of Taylor & Ridge. The inconsistency in the interviews and the conflicting information given to the actor and the showrunner has created a PR mess. 
Bold and Beautiful sees the sudden romantic relationship between Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) has left fans confused. The pace and nature of their relationship seem rushed and out of character. Hope's dialogue with Carter mirrors that of her previous relationship with Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson), creating a sense of déjà vu.
