Days of Our Lives on Peacock gave us some controversial storylines in 2024, featuring characters like Connie, played by Julie Dove, and Stefan DiMera, portrayed by Brandon Barash. Fans were left frustrated with plotlines involving Everett Lynch, portrayed by Blake Berris, who was introduced as Stephanie Johnson's ex and later revealed to be Bobby Stein, the ex-husband of Jada Hunter.
The DOOL character's hastily written exit was a major disappointment, as was the storyline involving Connie and her cardboard crush on Li Shin, played by Remington Hoffman. The return of Clyde Weston, played by James Read, also drew criticism. The plot involving a fake Abby, portrayed by AnnaLynne McCord, left fans longing for the return of the original Abigail Deveraux, previously played by Kate Mansi and Marci Miller. Lastly, the "Body and Soul" storyline was widely panned, leading to the termination of former head writer Ron Carlivati.
Despite the backlash, Days of Our Lives topped Peacock's ratings in the week of November 4th, with storylines focusing on Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel), Phillip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier), Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow), Xander Cook (Paul Telfer), and Rafe Hernandez's (Galen Gering) proposal to Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu). Fans are now eagerly awaiting the work of the new female writing team, set to debut on April 30th, 2025.

The Young and the Restless on CBS had a rollercoaster ride of a year with standout performances from Sharon Case, Michelle Stafford, and Michael Mealor. However, some narratives in the soap opera left fans desiring more. One such storyline involved the mental health plots of Connor Newman (Judah Mackey), Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case). The simultaneous unfolding of these three storylines was a misstep, as it diluted the narrative focus, despite commendable performances of the actors.
Another Y&R subplot that drew criticism was the rapid redemption of Claire Newman (Hayley Erin). Her transformation from a criminal to a saint was deemed too swift to be believable. The year also saw Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) chasing Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) in desperation, which was a subplot fans found hard to stomach.
Young and Restless saw Kyle Abbott's (Michael Mealor) tantrum-filled, family-betraying storyline lacked the redemption arc fans expected. Despite his disruptive behavior, he was rewarded with a co-CEO position, which did not sit well with the audience. The year ended with the controversial plot of Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam Newman's (Mark Grossman) infidelity, which neither reunited the pair nor resolved their relationship with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).

General Hospital saw a blend of intriguing and largely disapproved storylines in 2024. The redemption of Heather Webber (Alley Mills), a notorious character imprisoned for her past misdeeds, sparked outrage among fans. Many questioned the rationale behind her release and the subsequent involvement of Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) and Steven Lars Webber (Scott Reeves) in her storyline on the ABC soap opera.
GH also saw the surrogate storyline involving Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) and Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) took a distasteful turn, with Kristina's increasingly disagreeable actions leading to the baby's accidental death. Sasha Gilmore's (Sofia Mattsson) sudden revelation as a Scorpio, and the unnecessary exit of Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) at the hands of Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) also made fans rage.
General Hospital gave an ongoing romantic entanglement between Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) and received its fair share of criticism, with many viewers longing for a resolution. Despite these missteps, the return of beloved characters like Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) and Jagger Cates (Adam Harrington) were highlights of the year but were marred by their controversial storylines.

The Bold and the Beautiful saw various storylines in 2024 from Taylor Hayes' (Rebecca Budig) recast, Luna Nozawa's (Lisa Yamada) surprising plot twists, to the contentious plot surrounding broken heart syndrome, these storylines have left audiences questioning the creative decisions of Brad Bell, the head writer and showrunner of the CBS soap opera.
Bold and Beautiful saw the underwhelming love life of Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) ranks fifth on our list. The haphazard swapping of Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) for Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) in a love storyline with Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) was a puzzling decision. The unwarranted recasting of Taylor Hayes, originally played by Kirsta Allen but replaced with Rebecca Budig, was an additional blow to the fans.
Bold and the Beautiful also saw Finn (Tanner Novlan) being portrayed as the biggest fool in the show and it didn't sit well with the audience. Lastly, Zende Forrester Dominguez's (Delon de Metz) controversial plot as a rapist, later retconned to Luna's psychotic behavior, was the most disapproved storyline of 2024.

Days of Our Lives saw a series of cast changes in 2024. Popular characters such as Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barish), Nicole Walker (Ari Zucker), and Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) exited the show due to various reasons including actors' deaths, kidnappings, and real-life controversies. Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) and Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) left the storyline after a dangerous encounter with Clyde Weston (James Reed). Sloan Petersen (EJ DiMera) fled Salem to avoid arrest. Diana Colville (Judith Chapman) made a brief return, while Officer Goldman (Christie Saint John) was sent to prison, marking the end of her romance with Clyde on the NBC Peacock soap opera.
DOOL also saw that Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) left Salem in search of Megan Hathaway, ending his one-year stint on the show. Nicole Walker and Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) also left Salem due to Ari Zucker's permanent exit following a scandal. Teresa Donovan (Emily O'Brien) exited the show but will return in 2025. Notably, the show paid tribute to Bill Hayes and his character Doug Williams, who passed away in his sleep in December 2024. Other notable exits include Connie Viniski (Julie Dove), Everett Lynch (Blake Barris), and Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barish). These numerous cast changes mark a significant shift in the storyline for 2025.

General Hospital bid farewell to numerous characters from its ensemble in 2024, shaking up the ABC soap opera. Among the notable departures were Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Chavez) and Esme Prince (Avery Pohl), who disappeared into the River Seine in January. Ryan Carnes and Mark Anthony Samuels also exited the show as Lucas Jones and Felix Dubois respectively.
GH saw the biggest exit, still haunting fans, was that of Nicolas Chavez as Spencer Cassadine. In May, we saw the exit of Joshua Bernard as troubled college student Adam Wright. Gregory Chase, portrayed by Gregory Harrison, passed away from ALS complications, leading to the June exit of his son, Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton). The summer saw the final episode of Congressman McConkey (Sam McMurray) and the death of Jagger Cates (Adam Harrington).
General Hospital closed the year with the departure of characters like Heather Webber (Alley Mills), Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers), Holly Sutton (Emma Samms), and Dex Heller (Evan Hofer). The show's future in 2025 promises more drama with characters exiting and returning, keeping fans on their toes.

The Young and the Restless saw a wave of departures in 2024, including characters portrayed by Tricia Cast, Connor Floyd, Trevor St. John, Elizabeth Hendrickson, and Val Bloom. Cast, renowned for her role as Nina Webster, took her leave in spring, while Tucker McCall, a character delightfully portrayed by St. John, was last spotted in Paris in June. Hendrickson's character Chloe Mitchell was reduced to a recurring status, appearing in only six episodes this year.
Y&R saw Bloom's Heather Stevens made a shocking departure in September. She was supposedly murdered by Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), a twist that made a buzz among the show's dedicated fans. Michael Damian, who portrays Danny Romalotti, was also written out in October 2024. Key characters like Elena Dawson (Brittany Sarpy) and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) also exited the CBS soap opera.
Young and Restless head writer, Josh Griffith, appears to be wrapping up the tenure of Jess Walton, who plays Jill Abbott. With the sale of Chancellor, Jill's business ties have concluded, trailing off her story arc. However, fans eagerly await new twists and turns in Genoa City.

The Bold and the Beautiful saw several pivotal characters make their exit on the CBS soap opera. From Wyatt Spencer to Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson), the year was marked by emotional farewells and unexpected departures. The year also witnessed the return of Darin Brooks as Wyatt to hand over keys to the beach house to Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), previously owned by Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig).
Bold and Beautiful teased fans with the elaborate villainous plot of Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown), only to reveal a twist involving her look-alike, Janet Webber, aka Sugar. In another shocker, the anticipated wedding of Thomas Forrester to Paris Buckingham (Diamond White) was abruptly called off, leaving viewers guessing. Bold also saw cameos from beloved actors like Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E Bregman) and Ted King as Jack Finnegan, among others.
