General Hospital on ABC brings a whirlwind of emotion as Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) makes the leap into a new romance with Natalia Rogers Ramirez (Eva Larue). Fans of the long-running soap opera have mixed feelings about this pairing, with some finding it refreshing and others viewing it as a disastrous diversion. But, as Soap Dirt's Belynda points out, this isn't the first time Sonny's love interests have stirred controversy. 
GH sees that over the past three decades, Sonny has had a string of romances, some of which were more palatable than others. For instance, his recent fling with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was divisive, with fans either praising or condemning the match. In a rather unexpected twist, Sonny ended up divorcing Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) to marry Nina, only for the marriage to fall apart due to an SEC call. 
General Hospital sees among other notable failed relationships were Sonny's dalliances with Margo Dawson (Elizabeth Hendrickson), Hannah Scott (Lisa Vultaggio), and Reese Marshall (Kari Wührer). However, arguably the most ill-received romance was his early relationship with high school student Karen Wexler (Cheryl Richardson), which was marred by an inappropriate age gap and Sonny's manipulation.

The recent storyline has seen these two characters kidnapped, and fans are speculating about who the real culprit might be. The character's return, first announced in October, was a surprise to fans. 
DOOL sees that Theresa, previously embroiled in a fraud and forgery scandal with Konstantin Meleounis (John Kapelos), was sentenced to a six-month prison stint. Now, she's back, and her reunion with Tate is expected to be emotional. Beyond the Gates week one has seen the introduction of a strong, cohesive family at the heart of the drama, with standout performances from seasoned actors like Clifton Davis (Vernon Dupree) and Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree). Other key characters like Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley), Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli), and Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) have been met with intrigue and anticipation. 
BTG's vibrant sets and lush aesthetics have been highly praised, setting it apart from other daytime dramas. Moreover, the wide array of character roles, from doctors to politicians, and the attention to cultural nods within the set design has also been applauded.
