General Hospital on ABC brings a whirlwind of emotion as Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) makes the leap into a new romance with Natalia Rogers Ramirez (Eva Larue). Fans of the long-running soap opera have mixed feelings about this pairing, with some finding it refreshing and others viewing it as a disastrous diversion. But, as Soap Dirt's Belynda points out, this isn't the first time Sonny's love interests have stirred controversy. 

GH sees that over the past three decades, Sonny has had a string of romances, some of which were more palatable than others. For instance, his recent fling with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was divisive, with fans either praising or condemning the match. In a rather unexpected twist, Sonny ended up divorcing Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) to marry Nina, only for the marriage to fall apart due to an SEC call. 

General Hospital sees among other notable failed relationships were Sonny's dalliances with Margo Dawson (Elizabeth Hendrickson), Hannah Scott (Lisa Vultaggio), and Reese Marshall (Kari Wührer). However, arguably the most ill-received romance was his early relationship with high school student Karen Wexler (Cheryl Richardson), which was marred by an inappropriate age gap and Sonny's manipulation.
